  16. SYMPTOMS

  19. Your Proteon network adapter does not function. The Proteon device
  20. driver is not able to transmit information over the network.
  21.  
  22. CAUSE
  23. =====

  25. The Proteon driver does not wait for the final initialization of the
  26. Proteon adapter. It attempts to transmit information over the network
  27. before the adapter is initialized, causing the adapter to fail.

  29. STATUS

  32. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and Windows NT
  33. Advanced Server version 3.1. This problem was corrected in the latest U.S.
  34. Service Pack for Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. For
  35. information on obtaining the Service Pack, query on the following word in
  36. the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without the spaces):
